There may be a number of reasons for the performance of a PC to be affected. Temporary Internet files, which get stored in the temporary Internet files folder every time you browse through the Internet, are the major one that affects the performance of the PC. Do you know that the screen savers, cursors, image files and such other things that are visible while browsing gets automatically stored in the temporary internet files folder without our knowledge? Frequent usage of the Internet for browsing will increase the size of the temporary Internet files folder and will eventually affect the performance of the system at a later date.
The performance of the personal computer, or the PC, will be affected if preventive maintenance of the machine is not carried out at frequent intervals. Just as our vehicle or any other utility item in the house such as refrigerator, or the television, needs maintenance at frequent intervals for optimum performance, the PC also needs to be subjected to preventive maintenance at frequent intervals so that the problem of “PC running slow” does not occur or recur in future, and frustrate us any further.
It is quite simple to delete the temporary Internet files from the system. Just open the Internet explorer. In the menu bar visible in the top, click on the tools button. A drop down box will appear, in which you must select the “internet options” button. By selecting the “delete files” option under the “Temporary internet files” segment, you can get rid of the temporary Internet files that unnecessarily occupy the space in the hard disk and in turn, free up the space so that the performance will be better.
Clearing the junk files from the personal computer will also help in freeing the disk space and improving the performance of the system. This can be done by deleting the files from “C:\temp” directory, where most of the junk files get stored.
Often, all you need is a good registry cleaner to speed up your PC
